String theory states that all fundamental particles are just different foldings of a single multidimensional string. This toy allows you to play around and visualize a string in 5 dimensions. You might have played with a spirograph as a kid: some little gears that help you draw beautiful patterns on a paper. This app works exactly the same: two rotating discs on 2D create beautiful flower patterns. On 3D these shapes will go up and down creating dancing string that you can visualize in grayscale. A 4th dimension is added with color. A 5th dimension is opacity: our 4D string comes into and out of existence as it enters a 4D slice. We can even add another dimension by making the dot a ribbon that also spins and wobbles.
